happy news and the summer blahs.

First off by popular request here's the cheeseburger cake I made for a dear friend's husband's b-day :)

I have been a real blogging slacker lately as life and it's complications weigh on my mind. I still love my little peice of the internet, but it has become difficult lately to post as there are just things that don't need to be voiced here.

In happy news my mom gets a break from chemo treatments and blood tests. At her doctor's visit yesterday the team decided she was strong enough to get a 3 month break from treatments. She is over the moon excited and so am I. We're having a girl's day this Saturday afternoon to celebrate. I am seeing a visit to our favorite little cupcake bakery downtown in our future! This break couldn't have come at a better time. We thank God for His goodness and graciously accept our 3 month reprieve.

Mr. A and I joined our hometown's community center last weekend and they have open gym night, and for our date night tonight we're going to go play a little one on one basketball. Mr. A will probably school me but it'll still be a nice break from the stress of everyday life. Since we're both moping around lamenting the end of the NBA playoffs and realizing we now have 2 months to wait until college football season which by far is both of our fave time of the year we decided to just make our own games for a while :).

Saturday starts bright and early with cake class I absolutely love teaching cake and find I learn more teaching it than I did when I was the student :) After class I'm picking up mom for our Girl's Day extravaganza.

I have a confession to make Mr. A and I have missed church for 4 Sunday's in a row we've either had something going on or overslept so I am beyond thrilled that Sunday we will make Sunday school and church services I am thrilled that we're getting back to a regular routine that includes church I miss it when we don't go. After services our Sunday school group Oasis is meeting for lunch together and fellowship we are so lucky and blessed with this group and I feel like I haven't seen them in forever so I'm thrilled to get to spend some time with them. After lunch we're meeting our friends Mr. and Mrs. D and their puppy Tito at the dog park with our baby girl Missy.

So now a question to all you wonderful bloggie lovelies, anyone who knows me knows that I am not a summer girl I am an autumn girl through and through so I often feel I have to make an extra effort to enjoy myself in the summer and I'm going to do that anyone have any tips on fun things we can do this summer to keep ourselves entertained?

That hamburger cake is too cool! What church do you guys go to? We've been looking around for one to attend. Wish I knew of some fun stuff to do this summer. We're wanting to go get peaches in Stratford when they're in season. Other than that, we just chill in the hot months. I do want to make it up to Jones and see the aquarium!

Hi Mrs. A! Thanks for stopping by on the House Tour...it has been really fun participating so far. Just hope Natalie doesn't want us to photograph our closets! - So, I hear ya on the "I don't like summer very much" score. I felt an instant "Oh! I wish we were bffs in real life" when I heard you were an autumn girl. My blood runs in gold, rust, and crimson! My sister (also an autumn-addict) was just saying yesterday that she is already counting the days :-) Anyway, for summer. This year we are doing something called "Summer Nights" at our house. We basically published a list of 6 dates (2 times each month) that our home will be open in the evening for any friends who want to - to stop by for snacks, drinks, and chat. Just totally relaxed, hanging out entertaining. We've had one so far, and the next is a week from tomorrow. We just got a copy of the dates to all of our friends, and asked any who were interested in coming to any of them to just send us an e-mail. Then, a couple days before the next SN date, we'll e-mail a reminders to those who showed an interest.- Sounds simple, but it's a great way to enjoy the cool evenings, get to hang out w/ your friends, and entertain in a very relaxed way.- Other than that, I just enjoy planning what I'm going to do in the fall to get me through the summer :-) Talk to ya later, ~Kristin from Windy Poplars

Hmmm, I like you am an autumn girl. I adore the fall and just live for that time of year. The air just always seems so full of promise. Neither hubs or I are huge fans of summer and heat but we are trying to make the best of it. Bike rides, roller blading, tennis and working out outside are things we like to do in the evening when it gets cooler. Picnics & camping. Hikes through the woods. Hubs just got a new grill so barbecuing has become a new favorite (we don't have to heat up the kitchen, yay!). Also, enjoying the indoor museums and aquarium (DC isn't too far away from us). Baseball games at stadiums in different cities coupled with short weekend getaways. Berry picking. Wiffle ball, soft ball & volleyball. Mini roadtrips, summer outdoor concerts. That's all I can think of right now.

I made a list of all the things I'd like to do this summer to try and capitalize on the time rather than wishing it away until the glorious fall. Maybe I'll post it on my blog!
